The LEGO Foundation is committed to helping children learn through play. It works with partners all around the world to bring play to children in difficult circumstances. We needed to bring its mission and ethos to life within its head office campus in Denmark – and that meant getting playful.

A purposeful space

Our challenge was to create an immersive place embodying the idea of ‘learning through play’. We used zones to represent the five skills children build through play: physical, social, emotional, cognitive and creative. The spaces were decorated with diverse imagery of the children the Foundation supports to remind the team in Denmark of their mission.

The spirit of play

The Lego Foundation’s look is distinct from the Lego brand and it needed a different feel. Planting and colour make the space feel relaxed. Flexible co-working areas encourage collaboration and support new hybrid working patterns. Interactive work spaces invite creativity and encourage people to approach their work playfully.

Quarterre were an energising and inspiring partner. Their instinctive understanding of the value of play and their ability to quickly visualise activities and physical spaces have been a huge help in making learning through play a priority for every child.
